I talk a lot about brands, but rarely about the connection people sometimes make to their locale. Your hometown can become part of your brand. Nearly 20 years ago, my wife and I settled in Pasadena. It was a town that just felt right. We’ve raised our children here and we’re still proud to call ourselves Pasadenans.
Pasadena is a city with a heritage, but that’s not what makes it so special. In the craziness of Los Angeles, our city is a place that people reinvent every day while preserving an authentic character that stretches back to the 19th century.
I commute over 30 miles to get to work, and yet I wouldn’t move for a raise. I love where I live. When I wake up, I don’t have to look very far for inspiration.
So, I was a Pasadenan … for almost 17 years. But then I joined the rest of the crowd on the west side and now I’m a very happy Santa Monican. I will say, however, that our family loved the many years we spent in the city of roses.
